The 9th Feeder Fishing World Championship for Clubs 2026 Croatia will take place at the Čakovec Hydropower Plant – Orehovica Course in Croatia from 30 July to 1 August 2026.
The Orehovica Course is widely regarded as one of the most attractive and technically demanding feeder fishing venues in Croatia, offering unique hydrological conditions and excellent potential for high-level competitive feeder fishing.
This document provides an overview of the technical characteristics of the fishing course, explains its specific features, and shares practical insights and experience that can help competing teams prepare effectively for the championship.
Venue: Čakovec Hydropower Plant – Orehovica Course
The competition venue is located on the outflow canal of the Čakovec Hydropower Plant, a highly regulated water system designed for flood control, river regulation, and electricity production.
The canal is constructed as an open trapezoidal profile, providing stable banks and consistent hydrological conditions along the entire competition sector.
Technical Characteristics of the Canal
- Total canal length: approximately 6.5 km
- Total canal width (including banks): approximately 115–130 m
- Water surface width (fishable area): approximately 65 m
- Bottom width: approximately 25.0 m (trapezoidal profile)
- Water depth: average depth 10–12 m, with sloped banks
- Water flow: up to 500 m³/s (actual flow varies depending on electricity production)
Due to regulation works, maintenance activities, and natural erosion processes, water depth and width may slightly vary between sectors, making adaptability and precise preparation essential for competitive feeder fishing.
